Numbered Heads Together
Materials Needed
None
Instructions
Students, grouped by 4 or 5, numbered off 1 to 4/5. The teacher asks a question. Students put their heads together to determine the correct answer. When time is up, techer calls a random number. All students with that number stand and teacher calls on one to answer. The teacher may check with others standing to verify answer. Students sit down and the process is repeated.
Notes
Teacher needs to determine how much time is needed to answer the questions. The process can be repeated for as long as the teacher chooses. More students answer questions because they are not giving “their” answer, but the groups’ answer.
