Teammates Consult

Materials Needed

Cup to hold writing utensils, worksheets

Students are in groups of 4 or 5.  Students put their pens/pencils in cup in center of workspace. The group discusses the question, looks for answers in notes, text, etc.  When the assigned “checker” notes that all teammates understand and agree with the answer, the signal is given to write.  Students the take their pen/pencil and write the answer in their own words.  The group then moves on to the next question repeating the process.

This strategy works best with higher order thinking questions that have multiple approaches to the answer rather than a recall answer.
