Mission Read: A Dyslexia Center of Excellence, will serve children who struggle with reading and have dyslexia or exhibit dyslexic tendencies. We create an inclusive environment that meets the literacy needs of all children.

Reading Tutors Needed!

Mission Empower is a Community Parent Resource Center serving children, youth, and young adults with disabilities; their families; and professionals who work with them. We are here to empower Erie County families along their journey so their children may be included at school and in the community and reach for the stars!

Mission Empower is implementing a reading program for school aged students focusing on 6–8-year-olds in the City of Erie and Erie County. Mission Read—a Dyslexia Center of Excellence, will serve children who struggle with reading and have dyslexia or exhibit dyslexic tendencies.

Tutors will receive free training in the renowned Barton Reading and Spelling System. Tutors will:

  • Work one-on-one with the same student twice per week
  • Use the evidence-based Barton Reading and Spelling System
  • Learn the structure of the English language, and
  • Help children learn to succeed in reading and school

Trainings are FREE, and all materials will be provided.

Trainings will be at Mission Empower, 1611 Peach St, Suite 120, Erie, PA 16501.
